Webinar: Bright Idea

November 14 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

The Bright Idea webinar features three successful Performance Improvement initiatives from LHA Trust Funds member hospitals. These presentations are brought to you in an effort to share innovative ideas that have led to success for other members and may inspire a bright idea in your own organization.

Journey to High Reliability
Presented By Cherie Bergeron, RN, BSN, Director of Quality

Oschner St. Anne realized an opportunity for improvement with frontline staff’s perception of safety. After determining that information regarding patient safety improvement action plans was not reaching staff on the front lines of patient care, they launched a project to improve employee engagement. This Bright Idea, presented by Director of Quality Cherie Bergeron, will address how daily huddles, physician involvement and employee forums have lead to success in the hospital’s journey to becoming highly reliable.

Reduction of Central Line Blood Steam Infections
Sharlene Dering, RN, CIC, Infection Prevention Coordinator

Slidell Memorial Hospital successfully reduced the number of central-line associated bloodstream infections in their ICU. Infection Prevention Coordinator Sharlene Dering led the initiative, focusing on improvement in hand hygiene practices, use of Curos disinfecting port protectors and daily rounding. Join Dering as she discusses this Bright Idea.

Fall Prevention
Allison Robichaux, RN, Clinical Director, Med-Surg 2

Thibodaux Regional Medical Center focused on breathing new life into their Fall Prevention program and reducing fall rates on the Med-Surg Unit. Using innovative Bright Ideas such as a Go Green campaign to compliment the Safeview feature of patient beds, patient and staff education and Pharmacy involvement, they were able to reduce falls. Join Allison Robichaux, Clinical Director of Med-Surg, as she discusses this project.
