Overview

At LHA Trust Funds, we understand the challenges that healthcare organizations face when balancing safe care environments for patients while maintaining safe and healthy workplaces for employees. Creating and maintaining a safe, healthy workplace helps ensure the work environment is as safe as possible and also increases employee satisfaction.

Our goal is to support member healthcare organizations to ensure their employee safety programs are comprehensive and successful. To help accomplish this, we have developed a 10-hour train-the-trainer course taught by our OSHA Outreach Training Program Authorized Trainers.

This course is designed to assist leaders and managers in creating effective workplace safety programs that promote the safety and health of employees. Those who complete the course will gain more knowledge and insight into unique workplace hazards and mitigation strategies that reduce the risks of illness and injuries to employees.

Receive 10 hours of instruction over 2 days on:

  • Introduction to OSHA
  • Walking & Working Surfaces
  • Fire Safety
  • Electrical Safety
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Hazard Communications
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • COVID-19
  • Workplace Violence

HR Professionals, Safety Directors, Clinical and Non-Clinical Managers, Physician Office Practice Managers, Risk Managers, and Employee Health Coordinators are invited to this event.


Objectives

This training will enable managers and leaders to positively impact workplace safety by:

  • Developing more effective training programs to improve the safety of jobs.
  • Identifying missing components of existing safety programs.
  • Developing strong injury and illness prevention programs to proactively identify and overcome workplace hazards, and reduce employee injuries and sickness.
  • Focusing on the new national emphasis program related to COVID-19 and complying with employee training requirements for COVID-19 and other contagious diseases.
  • Developing workplace violence programs as required in Louisiana healthcare facilities and addressing the right of employees to work in a safe environment.
  • Demonstrating how to properly submit OSHA injury and illness logs, in accordance with OSHA requirements.

Cost

LHA Trust Fund members can attend this course for free as a benefit of their membership. Non-members may also attend for a fee of $699.
