Last week, I blogged about how 88% of human trafficking victims present in the health care system at some point, yet many clinicians continue to miss human trafficking as a possible diagnosis due to multiple factors such as lack of education on this public health issue.

A hospital or medical office can be terrifying for someone who has been abused. The perceived power differential, being asked to remove clothing, and having invasive testing can remind someone of prior episodes of abuse.
