Each year, we recognize healthcare providers around the state for their commitment to patient safety or quality of care. One clinic took strategic action to address the need for patients’ access to care in their community. Their commitment has made them our 2023 Safety Star Award recipient for Physicians Offices and Clinics.

Providing Access to Care Closer to Home

The Maurice Community Care Clinic successfully expanded its capacity to provide enhanced medical services to the local community by adding a Registered Nurse Supervisor and three more physicians specializing in General Surgery and Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) care to its staff.

The clinic conducted a thorough needs assessment, revealing a demand for the inclusion of general surgery and an ENT specialist to meet the community’s healthcare needs. In response to the findings, clinic leadership appointed a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who assumed the Medical Doctor (MD) recruiter role and successfully recruited professionals concentrating on these two medical specialties.

By reinforcing clinical leadership and diversifying its healthcare offerings, Maurice Community Care Clinic is better positioned to meet the community’s growing healthcare needs.
