In this presentation, common security issues and needs of physician practices and standalone healthcare provider sites will be discussed including considerations on how to effectively design measures to deter, detect, delay and defend against threats to our patients and staff.

• Understand the strategies used to better protect stand-alone practices and clinics from a security perspective including physical, operational and cultural approaches.
• Discuss the importance of appropriate training of staff to include workplace violence detection and prevention and the location and use of security technology (panic buttons, access controls) and how and when to contact local law enforcement for assistance.
• Develop insights into how a proper Security Vulnerability Assessment (SVA) can help to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement regarding security measures and procedures.
