Navigating the Front Lines: Learning to Address Workplace Violence in Healthcare Using Real-World Scenarios

Workplace violence in healthcare is a growing concern, with providers facing increasingly volatile situations. At the 2025 LHATF Workplace Violence Symposium, participants engaged in powerful scenario-based discussions designed to address real-world threats, bolster response protocols, and protect staff and patients. Training using real-world scenarios is shown to be a highly effective tool for education and should be done regularly to keep staff aware of how to respond to complex situations.

We’ve developed a breakdown of the scenarios explored during the event, highlighting key takeaways and action plans. Download our Workplace Violence Training Guide to learn more about specific scenarios that may arise in your work environment and how to properly address them. You can customize your response discussion and considerations using your own workplace’s safety plan, but we’ve provided example responses, action plans, and training points for each scenario as a guide.
