Objectives

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the core characteristics of autism and how they may influence behavior, communication, and responses in high-stress healthcare environments.
  • Identify appropriate communication techniques and de-escalation strategies tailored to individuals with autism to reduce misunderstandings and potential conflicts.
  • Apply autism-informed practices to foster a safer, more inclusive healthcare environment for both patients and staff.
