These Free Antibiotic Stewardship Tools Can Help Improve Your Program

COVID-19 is a virus that would not warrant the use of antibiotics. However, according to a recent report from the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota, physicians are prescribing antibiotics anyway to treat or prevent bacterial co-infections.

Physicians interviewed by CIDRAP reported that, while they felt antibiotic use was up related to treating COVID-19 patients, antibiotic stewardship principles in their organizations helped limit and guide their usage as much as possible.

Interested in assessing your organization's antibiotic stewardship program? Our free Antibiotic Stewardship toolkit can help. The toolkit contains educational webinars, a gap analysis tool to evaluate your current program, core elements checklists for outpatient and inpatient programs, sample policies, and much more.
