Goodbye Daylight Savings! Remember to Reset the Time on Critical Equipment

Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend! Mark your calendars for the end of daylight savings time on Sunday, November 1, 2020. All clocks will “fall back” an hour.

Don’t forget to make sure times are set accordingly on your critical patient equipment such as defibrillators, point of care testing equipment, computers and medication administration systems. Staff members often assume these pieces of equipment automatically reset themselves, but that is not always the case. Inaccurate times are a common finding on LHA Trust Funds Patient Safety Risk Assessments.

Make sure to note the time change on your calendar to ensure your patient equipment is set accurately.
