Michael Melerine

Representative Michael Melerine represents District 6 in the Louisiana House of Representatives. He was elected in October 2023 and currently serves on the Civil Law and Procedure, Education, and Labor and Industrial Relations committees. He also serves on the Louisiana Law Institute. Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, he was elected to the Louisiana Board of Secondary and Elementary Education in a special election in spring 2021.

Representative Melerine received his Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in 2010 and his law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2013. He currently practices law in northwest Louisiana with the firm of Seabaugh & Sepulvado, LLC, and his primary areas of legal practice are insurance defense, insurance claims, workers’ compensation defense, and civil litigation.

Representative Melerine was named one of the Greater Shreveport Chamber’s Young Professional Initiative 40 Under Forty in 2022. He currently serves on the executive committee of the Independence Bowl Foundation and is a former member of the board of directors of Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana, Inc., and Riverbend Rotary of Shreveport.

Representative Melerine is married to Stacey Melerine, who currently serves on the Louisiana Board of Secondary and Elementary Education. They live in Shreveport with their son and twin daughters.
