Enhancements in Security and Facility Accessibility
Richardson Medical Center’s annual risk assessment with LHA Trust Funds revealed a potential vulnerability to unrestricted access into the facility related to former employees. Based on those findings, Richardson established a staff safety committee and installed badge access devices on all exterior and selected interior doors.
Now that access to the facility is limited by badges, staff members can ensure patients are entering through points where they receive immediate direction and more timely registration for their desired services.
Badge access devices have improved the overall feeling of security for staff members, especially the staff working in high-risk areas or working overnight hours. The new system enabled staff to create safety zones that only they can access in the event of a violent encounter. Badge access entry also allows the human resources department a more thorough and immediate process for restricting the access of employees no longer employed at the facility.
