Our annual Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) initial instructor–level training course offers certification to new participants. The course also provides recertification of MOAB Instructor-Trainer status expiring this year.

Overview

In today’s society, aggressive behavior and violence identification training are imperative for healthcare organization staff members.

Healthcare practitioners can face upset, angry, aggressive, mentally ill, or violent patients, family members, or visitors on any given day. Having the right tools in place to identify and address early signs of aggression and violent tendencies can help diffuse situations from escalating.

Our annual Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) initial instructor–level training course and instructor recertification course offers certification to new participants and provides recertification of MOAB Instructor-Trainer status expiring this year. LHA Trust Funds offers MOAB training once per year.

About MOAB

MOAB® presents principles, techniques, and skills for recognizing, reducing, and managing violent and aggressive behavior. The program also provides humane and compassionate methods of dealing with aggressive people. Every technique – nonverbal, verbal, or physical is based on a solid principle. Anyone interested in the management of aggressive behavior, including a VP of Patient Care Services, Chief Nursing Officers, Emergency Department Managers, ED Staff, Security Directors and Managers, General Practitioners and Consultants, and those involved in or responsible for general security programs, Behavioral Health Staff, Risk Managers, Social Workers, Case Managers, and Loss Prevention Personnel, is invited to attend this training course.

Objectives

• Review in-depth techniques in non-verbal communications, listening skills and verbal communication skills.
• Discuss how to manage anxiety, verbal aggression and physical aggression.
• Learn how to confront multiple aggressive people and how to calm people, diffuse anxious or aggressive behavior.
• Understand diversion and cornering mistakes and mental preparation skills.

When Is Recertification?

In addition to the full three-day course, MOAB also offers a one-day refresher for those wishing to renew their certifications expiring this year. Recertification attendees should make plans to join us on Wednesday, April 2.
