HHS Makes COVID-19 Data Reporting a Medicare Condition of Participation
HHS has announced that COVID-19 data reporting will be incorporated into regulations as of 9/2/2020.
HHS deferred their usual comment period for new proposed regulations due to the nature of the current public health emergency. The updated regulations impact acute care hospitals, critical access hospitals and long-term care facilities. Non-compliance may result in condition-level deficiencies, impact an organization’s ability to bill Medicare and result in fines.
